Hurricane Monitor
Hurricane Monitor is a free Windows application software download which provides real-time weather information for hurricane, tornadoes, typhoons, tropical storms and other severe weather events. It helps you stay alerted by providing updated forecasts from FEMA, USACE, NOAA National Hurricane Center, and other sources.
It also has an extensive list of active storms to keep you informed about the latest updates on the storm. It shows the central location, maximum sustained winds, distance from your location, points of origin, estimated time of arrival, and more. You can also save the current map view as JPEG or BMP image, and export reports like Public Advisory and Forecast Advisory in PDF, TXT, etc.
Ventusky offers a more detailed look at hurricanes than some other weather apps. It overlays radar, satellite images, and rain on top of the tracker to help you understand what's happening inside the storm. It also caches map animations, forecasts, and alerts so you can track a storm offline.
The app is free for seven days and then has various subscription options. You can upgrade for additional features, including a professional radar pack.
HURSAT is a database of hurricane-centric satellite data at 8-km and 3-hourly resolutions. It combines data from the International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project (ISCCP) and the HURSAT-B1 v06 satellite to create a database that is small, portable, and easy to work with.
Regardless of the source, all these hurricane tracker apps provide a map with current storm conditions and warnings. They also offer a range of map units, appearance preferences, and more. You can even select a specific region to learn more about the hurricanes in that area.
